Disclaimer.

Tax Tracker Pty Ltd is a registered tax agent (TAN 26321143). The legal text on this site, the engagement letter, and any work we do for you under a signed engagement are practitioner-prepared — written by a TPB-registered tax agent for clients of the firm. Outside that signed scope, the rest of the public website is general information. This page sets out what that distinction means and what you can rely on it for.

SECTION 1

What this disclaimer covers

This disclaimer applies to everything on taxtracker.com.au that is not covered by a signed engagement letter, including: · The marketing pages (home, services, pricing, about, contact) · Blog posts at /blog · Learn / glossary entries at /learn · Free interactive tools at /tools — refund calculator, deduction guide, tax deadlines, document portal preview · Trade-specific landing pages at /trades · Any newsletter, email or social-media content we publish It does not apply to: a tax return, BAS, advice memo or other deliverable produced for you under a signed engagement. Those are practitioner-prepared work by a TPB-registered tax agent and you may rely on them as personalised advice within the engagement scope.
SECTION 2

General information vs personal advice

Public-website content is intended as background reading. It explains how Australian tax rules typically work as at the date the page was published. It does not take into account your particular circumstances — your residency status, prior-year carried-forward losses, family-trust distributions, super contribution caps, capital structure, employment-vs-contractor arrangements, or any of the dozens of other facts that can flip the answer. If you act on a public-website page without engaging us first, you accept that: · The information may have been correct on the publish date but not be current today · A specific fact in your situation may produce a different outcome from the general rule · We have not reviewed your records, your prior returns, or your structure · No solicitor-client or accountant-client relationship is created by reading the site For anything that affects what you actually lodge, owe, or claim — engage us. The fee for a one-off return is in the same ballpark as a single missed deduction.
SECTION 3

About the free tools

Refund calculator (/tools/refund-calculator) — uses the resident individual tax brackets for the financial year displayed on the page (FY26 by default). It estimates a ballpark refund or balance owing based on the income, withholding, and deductions you enter. It does not apply low-income tax offsets, Medicare levy adjustments, HECS / HELP repayments, capital-gains events, foreign-income loadings, working-holiday-maker rates, or any of the other resident sub-categories. The number it produces is a starting point, not a lodgement figure. Deduction guide (/tools/deduction-guide) — lists deductions that are commonly available to people in the listed occupations. It is not a list of deductions you are entitled to. Whether a specific spend is deductible depends on the facts of your work — same job title, different deduction profile. Tax deadlines (/tools/tax-deadlines) — shows ATO lodgement deadlines for the upcoming periods. Concessional deadlines available through tax agents differ from self-lodger deadlines; the page shows the most common framework but your actual deadline depends on your registration status with us and any extensions granted. Document portal preview (/tools/document-portal) — a UI mock of the upcoming client portal. Not yet live for client use. Do not upload real client documents; production portal will be at app.taxtracker.com.au with full encryption, lodgement audit trail and TPB-compliant storage.
SECTION 4

Blog and learn entries

Posts under /blog and /learn are written by a registered tax agent and are technically accurate as at their publish date. They are general-purpose articles — they go through the same drafting standard as our internal training material. They are not, however, advice on your specific situation, and we do not maintain them with the rigour of a regulated guide. If you read a blog post then act on it, you do so on the basis that the article is a starting point for a conversation with us, not a substitute for one. We correct errors when we find them. If you spot one, email info@taxtracker.com.au and we will republish with a correction note and the original publish date preserved.
SECTION 5

Third-party links

Where we link to ATO, TPB, IPA, ASIC, Treasury, OAIC or other Australian government and professional-body resources, those resources are maintained by the linked organisation, not by us. We don't control their content and don't accept responsibility for it. We link to them because they are the authoritative source on the topic. Where we link to commercial third parties — accounting platforms (Xero, MYOB), document portals, analytics providers — the link is for your convenience. We are not their agent. Your relationship with those third parties is governed by the third party's own terms.
SECTION 6

No liability for general-information use

To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law, Tax Tracker Pty Ltd is not liable for any loss, damage, penalty, interest charge, missed lodgement deadline or adverse ATO decision suffered by a person who acted on general information from this website without first engaging us under a signed engagement letter. This exclusion does not apply to: · Liability that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010) · Liability owed to a current client under a signed engagement letter — that liability is governed by the engagement letter and our liability scheme (see /legal/liability-scheme) · Any deliberate misstatement on this site that we have not corrected within a reasonable time after we became aware of it If you believe content on this site is misleading or out of date, contact us and we will review and correct or update where appropriate.
SECTION 7

How to get advice on your situation

If anything on this site has prompted a question about your own affairs, the right next step is one of: · Book a free 30-minute discovery call at /book — we will tell you whether the situation needs an engagement and quote you fixed before any work starts · Email info@taxtracker.com.au with the question — we respond within one business day · Phone (03) 8732 2126 — usually answered the same business day There is no minimum engagement size. If your question is small enough that a 15-minute conversation is the entire answer, that conversation is free.
SECTION 8

Changes to this disclaimer

We update this page when the scope of free tools changes, when blog content categories shift, or when the underlying legal framework moves (for example, the December 2024 OAIC privacy reforms or the November 2023 unfair-contract-terms changes). The 'last updated' date at the top reflects the most recent change.
