Four steps, one fixed price.
Tell us what you sold
A short call or email: what the asset was, when you bought and sold it, roughly what for. You get a fixed quote.
Send the records
Contracts, settlement statements, broker or exchange reports, and receipts for costs along the way. Our checklist tells you what counts.
We build the cost base and the gain
Every cost that belongs in the base goes in, the discount and exemptions are tested, losses are applied. You see the working.
Review, sign, lodge
The gain sits inside your tax return. You see the figure and the tax before anything is lodged.

Why the cost base is where the money is
Most overpaid capital gains tax comes from a cost base that is too small. Stamp duty, conveyancing, the agent's commission on the way out, a new kitchen in year three, brokerage on each parcel: every one of those reduces the gain, and every one gets forgotten when the sale was years after the purchase. We rebuild the base from documents, not memory. The CGT explainer sets out what can go in.
The discount, and the change coming in 2027
Individuals who hold an asset long enough before selling pay tax on only part of the gain. The 2026 Budget reduces that discount for sales from 1 July 2027, which makes the timing of a sale in the next two years a real decision rather than a detail. Our Budget explainer covers who is affected and what grandfathering applies.
Crypto is not special, but it is messy
A swap from one coin to another is a disposal, even though no dollars arrived. Moving coins between your own wallets is not. The difference is only visible in a complete transaction history, which is why we ask for the full export from every exchange rather than a summary. Many trades take longer, which is what the separate crypto reconciliation fee covers.
Selling a business
The small business concessions can remove most or all of the tax on a business sale, but they have conditions that need to be in place before the contract is signed, not after. If a sale is on the horizon, the time to talk is now. The small business entity explainer sets out the concessions in order.
Common questions.
Yes. A capital loss this year offsets gains this year, and anything left carries forward indefinitely against future gains. It only works if it is recorded on the return in the year it happened.
